The Alaska Baseball Academy dropped their final game in the Arizona Senior Fall Classic 4-1 to a select team from Northern California. The Alaskan team stayed with the California All-Star squad for most of the game but where unable to capitalize on any opportunities with runners in scoring position. Stranding a total of 8 runners. “The California team was a quality ball club with 51 current, or former MLB players coming through their organization.“
Kasey Watts from Juneau had a pair of hits including a double, Nathan Bonck of Ketchikan also doubled. The Alaskans ended the tournament with a 3-2 record.
“We accomplished what we came down here for with our Alaska ballplayers showcased in front of close to 100 colleges and scouts from every MLB team.”
Leading hitters for the Alaska team included Johnny Homza with a .538 average and two doubles, Julito Fazzini with a .416 average and two doubles, Noah Alexander with a .400 average and Nathan Bonck with a .400 average and two doubles.
