The all-star baseball team from Alaska Baseball Academy notched another victory in Arizona behind strong pitching and hitting. Kyle Fitzsimmons of Sitka threw 5 solid innings and picked up the win. Fitzsimmons had 8 strikeouts while limiting the MVP National all-star team to 3 hits and a single run. The MVP squad had players from 30 different states on their roster. Raleigh Pigg of Service allowed one run in 2 innings of relief and had 2 K’s of his own. Mat Kley, formerly from South, picked up the save.
Jonny Homza of South continued his sizzling display hitting with another pair of hits and made some defensive plays worthy of Sports Center in the field. Wyatt Berg of Lathrop ripped an RBI double and scored a run. Charlie Bucolo of Chugiak singled and scored, as did Nathan Bonck of Ketchikan. Ky Stockel of Sitka, Julito Fazzini of South and Noah Alexander of Dimond also picked up hits.
Numerous college coaches and MLB scouts again showed up to watch the Alaskans and according to several of them this Alaska Baseball Academy team is one of the most talented and athletic teams in the entire 64-team tournament.
